On December 20, 2004 Freedom Calls
Executive Director, John B. Harlow II, appeared the
Capitol Perspective TV program with Senator Edward M.
Kennedy of Massachusetts. In the program Mr.
Harlow highlighted Freedom Calls efforts in
Massachusetts. Harlow reported that with the
leadership of Raytheon Company, Freedom Calls already
offered more than 30 sites for military families in
Massachusetts to video conference with their loved ones
stationed in the war zone. In addition to Raytheon
Company, Harlow drew attention to the contribution of
facilities by Harvard University, St. John's Prep.,
Springfield Technical Community College and Hampshire
Educational Collaborative.
Also appearing on the program was Rebecca
Rhoads, Chief Information Officer of foundation
contributor Raytheon Company and Tommy Burke of Auburn,
Massachusetts whose sister serving in Iraq was able to
attend his wedding in video conference over the Freedom
Calls Network this fall and whose family has been able
to keep in touch with his sister by video conference on
a monthly basis from Raytheon's video conferencing
facilities in Massachusetts.
In an example of the bipartisan support
that the foundation enjoys, following the broadcast
Senator Kennedy
praised
the worthy mission of the foundation.
